My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maxine the Great and her little family of 5 was taken in by a great foster after being trapped at the husband's jobsite. She survived by stealing mayonnaise packets from the construction workers' lunches. She also was infected with a heavy parasite load. Despite all this, she was a wonderful momma to her kittens and was able to overcome her health obstacles. Maxine's foster raves about her. She loves to play and really enjoys a good neck rub.

More about this rescue

We are East Newton Animal Coalition. We started with a mission to serve the unwanted pets in eastern Newton County Missouri. We are part of a very rural area and many nearby towns are very small and have no animal services. We have opened our doors to many small rural pounds, animal controls, and law enforcement. Our group was able to raise funds to build a new pound in our town, Granby, Missouri. We currently care for the animals of this facility and facilitate their return, rescue, or adoption. We also care for a colony of about 80 "less adoptable" cats at a private residence. We began our relationship with the Joplin, Missouri Petsmart in November 2023 and our cat adoptions have gone from about 6 per year to being on track for around 300 per year. We hope to be able to introduce a dog adoption program at Petsmart soon.
