My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hugo is a very sweet 10 week old, 11.5 lbs black lab pup. This cutie is a relaxed and observant puppy who is happy playing with his person or toys  or just sitting in the sun. Hugo is a very smart pup who likes other dogs and kids. He would love to be adopted with his sister Darla. Hugo is a fun loving puppy who can also chill with snacks and snuggle in to watch TV with his humans at night. Hugo has tons of love to give to a very lucky forever home.  He is vaccinated and microchipped,

We require adopters to have a safe and secure backyard - not electric or Fido fences as they are not as safe at containing dogs or keeping other animals or people out. For these reasons we do not adopt to homes with electric or Fido fencing.

The adoption fee is $675, which includes age appropriate vaccines, microchip, monthly flea, tick and heart worm preventatives at time of adoption and age appropriate spay/neuter.

Go meet their pets

After the application has been completed and approved we arrange for potential adopters to meet our pups and dogs in their foster homes. We also occasionally have adoption events which are listed on our Facebook Page.

More about this rescue

Gimme Shelter Animal Rescue is a 501c3 nonprofit organization based on Long Island NY. We rescue dogs and puppies who are at risk of being euthanized in high-kill facilities across the South. Every animal we rescue is quarantined where they get vaccinated and given any medical attention needed to get them healthy. We then transport the animals up to NY where they go into our wonderful foster homes until we find them all pre screened loving forever homes. We will adopt out-of-state on a case by case basis, including, but not limited to, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Pennsylvania.
Our goal is to find the best possible homes for our animals, to ensure a life-long loving commitment. We are dedicated to the well-being of our animals. One by One until there are none!
