Sullivan has a sad story: He was abandoned by his owner who left him behind at a training facility. Luckily they found out that he was a MAD dog and we got him back!!
Sullivan is a HIGH drive dog with some anxious tendencies who needs an experienced handler who will put him to work! He is toy and food motivated and needs to be consistently worked. Sullivan is not a pet dog nor a SAR or Service Dog. He requires structure and consistent maintenance. He is the perfect dog for someone wanting to dog that JUST wants and loves to work and thrives under those conditions. He has great obedience under his belt and apparently has his first two legs in AKC scent work! So I bet he'd love to continue that.
He is protective and cautious of strangers and will need time to warm up to them. He has high prey drive so no kids, small dogs or cats. His ideal home may be a single person with great leadership skills, wanting to do scent work [or other soft sports], be active with him and really bond with him! He is neutral with dogs when supervised. Ideally, he finds a home where he is your sole focus OR you are used to having working dogs and can manage a crate and rotate situation. He is crate and house trained.
His trainer says he is a really cool dog to train and we hope that he finds his perfect person who wants to help a dog who is too much for most people! We know his person is out there and we just have to find him/her!
All dogs come with a Fi GPS collar and free one-year subscription!!

We are an official 501c3 organization that does not have a physical location. Our home address is in Michigan, however, the majority of our dogs are not located in Michigan. The physical location of each animal is posted with the name of the dog in the title area. If you are within 4 hours of the dog, please be prepared to pick the pet up. We do provide transport assistance up to 350 miles. The applicant must drive the remainder of the distance of the transport.
The basic information that we have available is in our posting, but sometimes fosters will post updates on the MAD Rescue Facebook page as well, https://www.facebook.com/groups/malinoisanddutchshepherdrescueinc.
If you would like to further inquire on this animal, please fill out this application. Applications that are completed in our process and being considered as a match will speak to the foster home to gain more information about our adoptable dog.
