My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Leo, a slightly shy but incredibly sweet and undeniably cute kitten looking for his new family!

Leo lived in a foster home for about a month, where he made best friends with the resident cat. His foster parent says he's always ready to play with his cat friend, and starts purring the second he sees him. Leo also lived with a dog in his foster home.

Here is what his foster has to say about him:

Once he feels comfortable, Leo reveals his playful, curious nature. He turns into a bundle of energy, full of pouncing, playing, and purrs. The process of earning his trust and seeing him transform into the sweet, loving kitten he truly is has been nothing short of magical. The bond we’ve built is truly unique, and it’s a reminder of the beauty that comes with patience, love, and persistence. Leo may take a little time to warm up, but once he does, he will offer his forever family an extraordinary friendship, built on trust and love. With Leo, you won’t just be adopting a kitten-you’ll be gaining a lifelong companion who will bring joy, loyalty, and warmth to your home.

How to Adopt:

Take your time getting to know the animal you wish to adopt. The pet you choose should be your pet for the rest of its life, so spend the time necessary to make the right choice. Our staff is happy to assist you in taking a dog out of the kennels or socializing with a cat in the cat room. We encourage each person in your household to get acquainted with an animal before it becomes a new member of your family. We also suggest you bring your present pets in for an introduction to the new animal to form some ideas about their compatibility. Our shelter is open Tuesday through Friday, 12-5 pm and Saturdays from 10 am-5 pm. In order to complete the adoption process, it is necessary to begin adoptions by 4:30pm.

Our mission is to provide animals with loving care and lasting homes, to partner with communities striving to do the same, and to advance our no-kill legacy.

We accomplish our mission by transferring cats and dogs to our facilities from public shelters in the Bay Area and beyond when they are in danger of being euthanized due to space or financial limitations.

Pets In Need has shelters in Redwood City and Palo Alto. We have owned and operated our Redwood City shelter since 1993, and in 2019 we began operating the Palo Alto Animal Shelter in partnership with the City of Palo Alto.

Pets In Need is now operating the Palo Alto Animal Shelter. The City of Palo Alto still provides Animal Control Services for the cities of Palo Alto, Los Altos, & Los Altos Hills, CA
