Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
** If you are interested in adopting Betty, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ **
Betty is a very gorgeous, young Chocolate Lab who was rescued from a high kill shelter in Houston. Betty is now in Boulder, CO and looking for her forever home.
She was picked up as a stray (very common in Houston) and brought into a shelter where no dog should ever be. Farfel's Rescue was reached out to to help this sweet girl, and couldn't resist.
Betty is a 1 year old, 40 lb Chocolate Labrador.
From Betty's foster:

"Betty has been great! She is super sweet and loving, and great with other dogs.
She started out pretty dang calm, but as she became more comfortable in my house and decompressed, her adorable personality started to show! She is a young Lab, so of course she loves to play but she’s also a super snuggle!
She seems house-trained, though she had an accident her first night, but she's been good since then.
She is good in her crate during the day, I've left her for a few hours at time with no problem, but doesn't like to sleep in at night (she wants to sleep by me!). She also doesn't bark much so far, just once if the doorbell rings.
She is very affectionate, cuddly and sweet and loves belly rubs. She likes to play with stuffy toys and bounce her kong and is good at entertaining herself while I'm working. She also likes to sunbathe in the yard or just hang out with me on the couch. She walked nicely on a leash, only pulls a little. She's very treat-motivated and seems very trainable, she learned sit right away. She did try to chase some squirrels and focused on a cat she saw but was easy to re-direct.”

Farfel's Rescue feels very strongly that every dog deserves the opportunity for formal, positive reinforcement/force-free training.
We therefore aren't willing to adopt out to a home that doesn't choose to offer this training opportunity. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/force-free virtual and in-person trainers in your area.
Betty is up to date on her vetting/vaccinations and spayed, to be in line with our commitment to only adopting out healthy dogs.
Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.
