My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young dog that desperately needs our help. Jules was one of these dogs that deserved, due to his excellent temperament and all the love he'll bring to a family, to be rescued from a dismal Texas shelter. He'll soon be transported to Colorado to join a wonderful home filled with nothing but pure love and nurturing.

Jules is a beautiful, 3 year old, 10 lb Pomeranian / Schipperke mix that is nothing but pure love. Jules is deaf in just 1 ear due to a birth defect that left him missing half of his ear canal on one side. Because of this, he can get thrown off balance easily. This does is put a little wobble in his walk, but it's nothing he can't handle and it makes him a little extra loveable and a little extra cute. This doesn't affect his health, and he is in great health.

From Jule's foster:

"Oh my goodness Jules is such a gentle, sweet, quiet baby! He truly loves everyone he meets and will happily snuggle with anyone!

He doesn't seem to need much if any extra exercise besides his happy prancing circles that he does when he gets excited. He is very content being a couch potato and is a very mellow little guy. He is definitely the kind of dog that someone could bring along everywhere they go because he is so happy being held and carried.

Stairs / steps are hard for him. Luckily he is so small and easy to carry! He also needs help getting up on the sofa / bed. But he loves to be on the sofa / bed and snuggling.

He does great in a crate, and even naps in his open crate during the day.

He gets along great with my dog, but doesn't have much interest in playing. They snuggle and coexist great! He also is totally unphased by the cats.

He is also great with my pre-teen aged kids and loves snuggling with them."

As Jules becomes more and more comfortable in his forever home, he'll blossom and become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. Farfel's would like to see our wonderful guy in a home that includes him in family time and activities (some lap-time with belly rubs would be perfect!) as well as taking that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement / force free virtual or in-person training classes. This would be especially helpful for Jules and his new family to learn to communicate with each other without sound cues. Farfel's Rescue is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person force-free trainers in your area.

Jules will be a loving and devoted companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a silly, fun-loving and irresistible young pup. He would also be a great addition to a younger family that works from a home-based office.

Jules has been fully vetted, vaccinated, and neutered. These protocols support Farfel's commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs that won't contribute to overpopulation in the canine community.

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.

Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.

Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pup. If interested in this gorgeous, very cuddly/sweet and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application.
Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Additional adoption info

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. An Adoption Application and an Adoption Contract must be completed before any dog can begin their one week foster. Our average adoption fee is $695. This amount serves to cover vetting, spay/neuter, all vaccinations, temperament testing, transport, a microchip, harness, food, and treats.
Our dogs come from Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and rural Colorado.

Go meet their pets

Pets are transported from the southern states every week. Almost 100% of the time, the dogs are spoken for as a result of adoption applications that can be referenced under Adoption at farfelsrescue.com. We study the applications. If the app indicates there is a match, followed up by a home visit and reference checks, the process moves to the next step. The adopter is committing to a one week foster (of course the dog can be returned at any time prior), and can then choose to finalize the adoption.

More about this rescue

We own a pet boutique named Farfel's Farm & Rescue on Pearl Street in Boulder, Colorado. We have had the good fortune to find our niche in the Boulder community and experience success. We felt it very important to "pay it forward" in gratitude. We couldn't think of a better endeavor than to save dogs who were out of time in the southern states, yet had been identified with great temperaments. We dedicate our efforts to their good health and ultimate wonderful, permanent homes.
