My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Zoey!

A loving eleven-year-old Whippet/Labrador Retriever mix from Hopewell Junction, NY, whose heart is as golden as her tan coat. Zoey is the ultimate family companion, and her gentle nature with young children makes her the perfect fit for a family-oriented home. Her current pet parent cherishes how wonderful Zoey is with her two granddaughters, ages four months and four years old. This sweet girl enjoys snuggling, often curling up behind your head for a cozy night’s sleep, or even resting her head gently on yours, which is sure to melt your heart!

Zoey is a low-energy dog who loves her routine of lounging in front of the window, basking in the sunlight, or relaxing on the couch. She has a soft spot for belly rubs, and her favorite way to communicate is by nudging you with her nose or paw when she’s ready for some extra attention. House-trained and polite, Zoey knows exactly how to let you know when it’s time for a potty break—she’ll hop over to the door and give it a little jump to get your attention.

This sweet girl has mastered basic obedience commands like “sit” and “stop,” though she does have a protective streak. Zoey is territorial and can be cautious around new people, so slow, thoughtful introductions are key to making her feel safe. If someone enters her home or yard without being properly introduced, Zoey may bark or even nip to protect her space. However, once she’s had a chance to sniff and greet them on her terms, she quickly relaxes and becomes a loyal, loving companion.

Zoey does best in a calm, structured environment and has been known to be anxious around delivery trucks, motorcycles, or strangers approaching her territory. Thankfully, she is on medication to help ease that anxiety, and with the right guidance, she can continue to thrive.

Zoey is also great with cats, though she mostly leaves them to their own devices, and she’s good with some dogs but can be selective about her canine companions. If you’re a loving family who can offer Zoey the time and care she needs, she’ll reward you with endless love, loyalty, and adorable cuddles. Could Zoey be the missing piece to your family?
