My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, I'm Selena. I've mastered the art of being both independent and sweet. I enjoy my solitude, but I also love a good cuddle session. My intelligence often surprises people. I can figure out puzzles meant for dogs, and I've even learned a few tricks! Despite my smarts, I'm a simple girl at heart. I love playtime and quiet moments in equal measure. My bravery is one of my defining traits. I'm not easily scared and I face new experiences head-on. I'm not just a cat, I'm a companion. I'm looking for a forever home where I can share my sweetness, intelligence, and bravery. Adopt me, and I promise to be the best friend you never knew you needed.

More about this shelter

Founded in 1971 as the Animal Aid Society of Englewood, Suncoast Humane Society began with a few cages where people left stray animals to be cared for. Over the years, our service area has grown to include over 400 square miles, covering three counties: Sarasota, Charlotte and portions of Lee.
Suncoast Humane Society provides a safe refuge for thousands of lost, abandoned and abused animals from our service area each year. We are committed to our open-door policy of never turning any animal away, regardless of health, temperament, breed or circumstances.
