My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Murdoc
I`d be the first to admit I was terrified when I arrived at the HSHC. My owner surrendered me due to the new baby in the home. When I was placed into a two-room apartment in the cattery, I was so stressed out that I became a grumpy guy. I was dealing with a nasty skin infection that itched like crazy, and I needed to take medicine, so I moved from the cattery to the medical unit. That is where I learned to relax and be friendly with the staff. No more hissing or swatting for me! I immediately opened up and began seeking affection from strangers who came into the room and started showing off my playful side. Once I know I can trust you, I will purr and rub on you. Favorite activities include sleeping in a cozy, hidey bed, playing with pipe cleaners, and being held or cuddled for a long time. I`m a charming 8-year-old boy! I am also flexible; we have moved 6 times in 7 years! I was put outside on the porch recently because my owners couldn`t monitor their toddler around me. So, I wandered around the neighborhood for a while, and when I returned, I had a bite wound on my back. I don`t like being an outside cat! If you can give me plenty of time to settle in and a quiet place where I can chill out, I would love to go home with you. 11-18-24

More about this shelter

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.

This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
