Stanley, a 7 year old, 15 lb. Yorkie, recently joined our rescue. He is a big handsome boy who has lived in a puppy mill all his life.
When Stanley first arrived he would run away when approached. It took some work to gain his trust. He is a friendly boy and is good with other dogs. He is starting to enjoy the company of his foster parents and loves to cuddle on the couch. He also sleeps in bed with them.
Stanley loves to run around in the backyard. He has not mastered the stairs yet. He is working on walking on a leash, but it’s still a work in progress. He gets frightened when vehicles drive by or if there are loud noises.
Stanley has a very good appetite and eats 2 meals a day. He is on kibble with canned food and add in a little chopped chicken and rice. Benny Bully are his favourite treats.
Currently there are 2 small dogs in Stanley’s foster home. He will sometimes join in when the other dogs bark, but for the most part is very quiet. He has not been destructive when left alone.
Stanley is not housebroken yet - another work in progress (common to the mill dogs we take in). We try to get him outside every couple of hours to do his business. He will need some assistance with that. He is a little frightened driving in the car, but can travel seat belted in a dog bed.
A quiet environment and a house with a yard would be beneficial for Stanley. And it would be nice if someone was home more often than not... perhaps someone who works from home or who is retired. He is making great progress and with a little time and patience he will be a lovely companion. He's a sweet boy who has been through the mill, literally! But brighter days are ahead for this deserving chap.
