My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Gray! He is a special type of cat we lovingly call a Spirit cat! Spirit cats are very shy and prefer to spend time out of sight. New people and environments can be overwhelming at first and adopters should expect to see very little of him as he is settling in. We often can’t predict how a spirit cat will be after they settle in - some become comfortable around their family and choose to spend time with them by sharing the same space or allowing some petting, while others continue to prefer to hide when there’s any commotion. Spirit cats generally prefer to spend their time around other cats and make an excellent kitty friend to a cat already in the home. Our staff can help prepare adopters to welcome a spirit cat into a quiet home, but patience and understanding will go a long way with Gray.

If you think this cat could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by Northeast Animal Shelter. We have open adoption hours 11:30am-5pm daily - no appointment or application needed.

You are welcome to enter our cat rooms during open hours. Staff and volunteers will be happy to assist you!

Additional adoption info

Come in during open hours 11:30am-5pm if you see an animal you are interested in adopting!

Our Northeast Animal Shelter(NEAS) location also allows you to submit an inquiry online prior to visiting the shelter. Submitting an inquiry is not a hold, reservation, or guarantee on an animal adoption, it just gives NEAS a bit more information on you and allows staff to email you additional information on our adoption process.

We ask that you be in a position to adopt the day you visit with an animal. Our goal with adoption is to find a great match and have the animal stay in care for the least amount of time possible.

See www.mspca.org/adoption-centers/how-to-adopt/ for more information on adopting from the MSPCA-Angell Northeast Animal Shelter.

More about this shelter

Northeast Animal Shelter, established in 1976, is now part of the MSPCA-Angell, giving us a better opportunity to serve our community, provide additional life-saving programs and services, and protect more animals from cruelty and neglect.

Our adoption program is designed to be welcoming, nonjudgmental, and free of lengthy applications. We strive to engage all prospective adopters in a conversation aimed at matching an adopter’s lifestyle, interests and home environment with an animal’s personality, medical and behavioral needs. Adopting an animal is an extraordinary opportunity to choose your newest family member. At the MSPCA it is a great privilege for our staff and volunteers to guide that journey for adopters and animals.
