My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Bobby's girl aka Bobsie! This adorable little girl is available for pre-adoption and will be ready to join her forever home once fully vetted. At just two months old and weighing a petite 4.3 lbs, Bobsie is truly pocket-sized! We expect she will remain on the smaller side, likely under 25 lbs when fully grown, though we can't make any promises. Without a DNA test, her breed remains a bit of a mystery, but we suspect she may be a Chihuahua mix.

Bobsie's early life is unknown, but she was found as a stray along with several littermates before being brought to a local shelter. Sadly, no one came to claim them, but fortunately, Bobsie and her sister, Summer, were placed into foster care on 10/19. As her foster family gets to know her better, we'll continue to update her profile.

Like any young pup, Bobsie's personality is still developing, but with the right care and guidance, she's sure to blossom into a fantastic companion. Full of playful energy and curiosity, Bobsie is eager to find a patient, loving owner who can help her master the basics-obedience, socialization, and potty training. She's currently doing well with crate training and learning what it's like to live in a home, but her new family will need to continue her training journey.

Bobsie is very dog-friendly and would thrive with a canine companion to play with and learn from. While she hasn't been formally tested with cats, her young age suggests she could adapt well with proper introductions. Her experience with children has been limited,
so a home with kids who understand the playful and sometimes nippy nature of puppies would be ideal. Slow, supervised introductions are always recommended.

Bobsie will do best in a home that enjoys the fun and challenges of raising a puppy. She'll need regular potty breaks, short walks, and lots of playtime to keep her happy and healthy. Due to her small size, we're open to considering apartments, as long as there's a nearby park or space for her to explore.

Bobsie is not yet fully vetted but will be up-to-date on "age appropriate" vaccinations, spayed, microchipped, dewormed, and on regular prevention before she joins her forever family.

More about this shelter

The Bastrop Animal Control organization became a reality in 1998. We've grown since then and continue to do so as Bastrop County grows. Currently, we have 3 separate buildings containing a total of 90 large indoor/outdoor kennels and 8 play yards. We have 30 indoor cat kennels. We also have a 3 room cattery, that enables cats to live together in colony type environments until they find their forever home. If you have ever worked with or adopted a shelter pet, you know just how much they crave the attention and love we and our volunteers can provide and their eternal gratitude when they find their forever home at last.
