My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is GIO and I have quite a tale to share. You see, I was dreaming of finding my forever home but somehow I must have sleepwalked right into an animal shelter! While the humans here are wonderful, even dressing me in cute costumes for every season, I really-really want a home of my own.

I'm often told how very handsome and silly I am.... with my unique tricolor coat, massive ears and mesmerizing amber eyes. But my looks aren't all there is to me—I've got a fun personality to match! I love making new friends, whether they're doggy pals or human buddies. On walks, I really love rolling on my back in the grass..... you should try it!

Looking for a loyal companion to bring joy and laughter into your life? I'm your guy.... ready for any adventure, whether a leisurely walk or a cozy night in. At the end of the day, I'm just a loyal 1+ yr old guy looking for my forever family to share a life of memories with.

More about this shelter

The Bastrop Animal Control organization became a reality in 1998. We've grown since then and continue to do so as Bastrop County grows. Currently, we have 3 separate buildings containing a total of 90 large indoor/outdoor kennels and 8 play yards. We have 30 indoor cat kennels. We also have a 3 room cattery, that enables cats to live together in colony type environments until they find their forever home. If you have ever worked with or adopted a shelter pet, you know just how much they crave the attention and love we and our volunteers can provide and their eternal gratitude when they find their forever home at last.
