My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Owlet! The dynamo pup ready to bring endless joy to your home! This sweet and spunky snuggle bug is as adaptable as they come, making her the perfect fit for just about any family or individual. Owlet loves to play, especially with her current big buddy, a 65-pound border collie mix, so she's all about making new furry friends! With her love for kids, she's patient and playful, always happy to shower her people with tail wags and puppy kisses. She's equally adored by her 94-year-old "grandma friend as she is by a 7-year-old playmate, making her a true family favorite.

Owlet is a social butterfly who brings a spark to every room, and she loves meeting new people just as much as she enjoys cozying up for snuggles. She's well-mannered on a leash (pack walks are her favorite!) and enjoys being out and about. While she's a fan of tasty treats and might benefit from a slow feeder, she's also got the basics down-Owlet uses puppy pads indoors but also does great outdoors.

This fearless little "boss lady isn't afraid to let her voice be heard with her adorable barks and growls, which we think are just part of her charming personality. She's still getting used to the big world, but it's all part of her feisty spirit. Ready to welcome a playful, snuggly, and wonderfully quirky best friend? Owlet's waiting to bring her happy energy to a forever home-could it be with you?

More about this shelter

The Humane Society of North Central Florida was created in 2018 when the leadership of the Alachua County Humane Society, Gainesville Pet Rescue, and Helping Hands Pet Rescue decided to permanently join forces. By becoming the Humane Society of North Central Florida, our organizations were able to effectively streamline services for pets and pet owners, eliminate any duplication of services, maximize our community’s resources, and improve the life-saving abilities of the entire region.

Our founding organizations have been dedicated to serving pets in Alachua County for more than 40 years. The Humane Society of North Central Florida is a limited intake, no-kill animal rescue shelter. The animals in our facility are transferred from open-intake and/or managed admission municipal shelters across North Central Florida. The Humane Society of North Central Florida is an independent, local 501(c)(3) organization. As such, we do not receive funding from federal agencies, nor are we affiliated with any other state or national organizations such as the Humane Society of the United States or the ASPCA.
