My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Lamar is a gentle soul searching for his forever home, where he can truly blossom. While he can be a bit shy when meeting new people, it doesn't take long for his sweet personality to shine through. His adorable head tilts and expressive ears will quickly win your heart, and once he warms up, Lamar reveals just how affectionate and loving he really is. Whether strolling beside you on a walk or relaxing at home, Lamar is a loyal companion who enjoys life's simple pleasures. He also has the softest manners, taking treats gently from your hand, making every interaction with him a joy.

Given his reserved nature, Lamar would thrive in a calm home with older kids who understand his need for patience and space. He's met several dogs at the shelter and gets along best with tolerant, easy-going playmates who respect his laid-back style. With the right family, Lamar is sure to become a devoted friend, bringing quiet love and companionship to those who earn his trust. He's ready to find a family that will give him the time and care he needs to feel safe and loved.

More about this shelter

The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.

To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.

There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.

We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
