Flight As of today, I have been considered part of the HSHC for 258 days. I was found as a stray cat on February 20, and everyone thought I had feral-like tendencies, meaning I did not want anything to do with all these humans and hated being touched by them. However, the medical staff found out I was pregnant and couldn`t be placed as a barn cat. So, I went to live with a foster family to have my babies and wean them. My foster parents had three other cats in the home, plus a big dog. These animals were instrumental in helping me become a calmer, more relaxed kitty. I am 2-years, 7-months old, and only 6.6 pounds. I am a lovely girl, primarily white with Calico markings. Even when my kittens were ready for adoption, my foster mom wanted to keep me and help me continue my lessons. Since September 8, I have happily roamed the home with the other cats and dog. I still won`t let the humans touch me, but I will sniff their hands and boop their legs with my nose when it`s suppertime! My goal is to let them stroke me and pick me up. Besides, my foster mom does not want me to become a barn cat because I have been so happy being inside. It`s important to understand that I thrive in a calm environment, and I`m looking for a new home to provide this kind of peace. My family should introduce me to new environments and people very slowly and at my pace. The fewer the visitors, the happier I`ll be. I have made significant progress in my socialization, and I have the potential to become even more comfortable with human interaction. Most importantly, I want my new home to have easy-going feline friends to show me the ropes! 11-5-24

With an open admission policy, a No-Kill philosophy, and more than 3,100 animals crossing our threshold each year, we have still maintained a 98% placement rate over the last 3 years.
This is an amazing feat for any organization…let alone one that takes in some of the most abused, injured and seriously ill animals imaginable.
