My basic info
Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This short-necked turtle (Emydura subglobosa) is about 4" long. We can't say for certain yet if it's really a male or not. The species is native to New Zealand and Australia. He'd like at least a 40 gallon "breeder" aquarium (but larger is always better) with a basking spot and strong filter, but because shortnecks can get up to 10" (6-8" is common), you'll probably need a larger tank later. An inexpensive 50 gallon Rubbermaid stock tank would make a good home for the next few years, too.
He eats Reptomin and Mazuri turtle pellets and an occasional earthworm, and it wouldn't hurt to try dark leafy greens, carrot and sweet potato slices.

Send it back with DETAILED description on how you will care for the pet (size of enclosure, food, type of water source, substrate, type of lighting, etc). If you already keep reptiles or amphibians, send a picture of one of your current enclosures and the animal. Once approved, send a picture of your completed set-up, then a time and location can be arranged for pick-up. We do not have a shelter - all fostering is done in our homes, so we meet in central locations such as downtown Baltimore.
