My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Yeti! He is nearly 4 years old, and a bit of a unicorn: Kid-friendly, dog-friendly, cat-neutral, all humans friendly, and anecdotally we know that Yeti guarded chickens and goats as recently as May and loved his chickens in particular. Yeti was a dump case and has bounced around a bit after his ranch family could no longer care for him, but it does not seem like it was an issue with him harming livestock. At one point Yeti was in a home with 7 kids and we were told he was wonderful with them.

Yeti is VERY social and loves receiving all the pets from people big and small. In fact, if someone passes our front yard fence and *doesn't* say hi to Yeti he'll whine in protest and is very offended to be left out. Yeti does not jump on furniture or appear to have any desire to, and he is also not jumpy with humans. He has an extremely gentle disposition and has met both dogs big (he cohabitated with some fellow Pyrs briefly and did great) and small (shih-tzu level small!) and done well. He has also met some front-yard free range chickens in our neighborhood and was happy to see them/neutral.

Yeti has not shown any resource guarding with his humans, and does not have any problem with people he doesn't know coming in and out of the yard/home itself. Everyone is a friend to Mr. Yeti! He does have the typical Pyr alert bark though, which is most active at night-- he comes alive after 10PM and loves to do a night watch in our front yard. If Yeti could sleep outside all night he would, while during the day he prefers to go in and out at his own leisure and is a bit sleepier. Yeti is great on leash and doesn't tug at all except for the occasional squirrel, he does a 2-block walk in the AM and in the PM and that + outside time seems to leave him happy and relaxed.
