My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi my name is Dye, as in tie dye. I ended up at a hill kill shelter in Alabama after my first family didn’t know how to handle a herding dog breed. (they think I’m a Koolie, which is a unique herding breed).

I have lots of puppy energy and I do enjoy herding. My foster family even got me my very own herding ball and it is my favorite thing to do! I just learned how to play fetch, but I don’t really care for it too much right now. I’m learning new commands and how to be a part of a family. I love everyone including kids and even get along with my foster family’s cats!

I’m learning that I’m not allowed to herd my foster siblings and how to play with other dogs. I do great with proper introductions when meeting a new dog.

I am highly food motivated and a fast learner. I am exceptionally responsive to verbal cues and recall to my foster mom’s whistle, as I’m still learning my name. I do bark when I’m excited or scared, but I’m building my confidence and learning that I don’t have to bark at everything.

Here are some of my favorite things:
Food,
Playing with my herding ball,
Cuddling and being pet,
Learning new things, and
Being with people.

I am currently being fostered in Maryland, but transport may be available for my perfect home. I would really love an active person/ family that will continue with my training and teaching me boundaries. I would prefer someone with herding dog experience.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We require potential adopters to fill out an Adoption Application. When that is approved we can arrange for the prospective adopter to meet the dog they are interested in. We do require an adoption contract to be signed at time of adoption. We have a virtual home-check process (don't forget to submit photos of the exterior of your home!) Adoption fees range depending on the age of the dog. We do have dogs located at qualified fosters throughout the state and also out of state.

Go meet their pets

Since all rescue dogs live in foster homes, there is no single facility to meet pups.

You will need to contact Ewenity Farms HDH to make arrangements to meet the rescue dog after you have an approved app on file. Apps can be filled out at ewenityfarm.org

More about this rescue

We are a small, foster-based rescue organization located in Southwest Florida. Being small helps us give more one-on-one attention to individual dogs and their needs. Rescued dogs are kept in our homes and treated as our own. Herding dogs are unique. They are highly intelligent and require much of the owner’s attention. The dogs are evaluated, when they come into the rescue, for any temperament and health issues. Then they are given basic obedience, socialization and rehabilitation as it is necessary.

It is our sole purpose to find forever homes for these loving, wonderful dogs that have been discarded through no fault of their own. All adopted dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on shots, heartworm negative, micro-chipped, and on flea and heartworm preventative.
