Grey tabby, medium hair, spayed female, born approx. 6/1/23, #19257
Cats: solo or maybe w/mellow cats Dogs: not recommended Children: older, gentle
BACKGROUND: An animal-lover spotted a very thin Maude hanging around her neighborhood and started to feed her. Maude wanted to join the household permanently, but the resident dog wasn’t friendly to cats and it wasn’t a safe environment for her. Her rescuer reached out to The Rescue House and Maude was able to move into foster care instead so she can find a loving forever home that is just perfect for her!
PERSONALITY: Maude is an elegant, mellow sweetheart with a sprinkle of diva to keep things interesting! Hankering for relaxing head and chin scratches, she’ll curl up next to you or on your lap. Not only is she an excellent lap cat, but she also has ridiculously soft fur! Just be mindful not to get too close to her lower back, hindlegs or tail- she is sensitive about those places. Tail swishes are her way of saying, “No more, please.” If you don’t get the message, you might get a warning bite to say, “Excuse you!” Playful and fun-loving, she fancies a game of chase with a kitty wand but has no problems entertaining herself with her toy collection. Being carried is not her favorite thing, but she’ll tolerate it for you. Enjoying your company, she’ll follow you on a trip to the kitchen, chatting away as you two take a stroll. With this curious gal around, you’ll want to be extra aware. Silly Maude has a tendency to get underfoot or climb into the fridge if she spots something alluring inside. She also has a peculiar relationship with feet. Initially, she can be very scared of them, especially if she feels cornered by your feet or worried that you might nudge her with a foot. Sensing danger, she might grab your ankle, yowl, or bite if she feels attacked. On the other hand, she likes to greet you by lying down and rolling next to your feet. Thankfully, Maude is an avid communicator and will let you know how she feels through typical cat body language. Since she is generally easy to please, all you have to do is pay attention and listen. Any miscommunication will be quickly forgotten and you two will be back to blissful snuggles on the couch!
COMPATIBILITY: Maude had mixed opinions regarding the other felines in foster care. She might be able to coexist with a calm kitty, however it is difficult to be certain. She wou
