Meet Cherries
This sweet girl was rescued from the Manhattan ACC just hours before she was set to be euthanized for being too scared to come out of her crate. But don’t let her shy nature fool you—Cherries is a small girly (45 lbs), only 4 years old, full of personality and charm, complete with an adorable chocolate milk mustache that makes her impossible to forget. Cherries has had quite a journey since entering Rescue. As a two time shelter stay, she first entered the shelter in March 2022 when she was found stray, tied to a gate, and then kept by her finder for a few days before coming to the shelter. After being adopted, she recently found herself back at the shelter due to an eviction. Despite her past, she is setteling into her foster home beautifully!
Cherry knows basic commands, like 'Sit' & 'Stay' and loves to show this off if you have a treat in your hand. She is great on leash & doesn't bark at other dogs or people passing by. She loves to say hello to dogs on leash but prefers the on leash life/no dog parks because she can get scared of larger dogs. Cherry can be a bit shy around new faces, so slow introductions help her feel comfortable. Once she knows you, though, she’ll reward you with endless love, belly rub requests, and gentle companionship. In the afternoons, she gets bursts of playful energy and will be thrilled to join you for a long walk or play fetch with her stuffed animals. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate bff, Cherry is your girl!
Cherry is would thrive in a quiet, adults-only household where she can settle in at her own pace. Potty trained and incredibly well-behaved, Cherry is one of the sweetest dogs you'll ever meet who is looking for her humans. She has a big, quirky personality that shines through her favorite games, especially when she's playing tug-of-war with her toys!
