My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Pumpkin! She’s a young pup on the hunt for a wonderful forever family! Pumpkin is looking for a forever family that is committed to providing love and guidance so she can grow up to be a wonderful, well-behaved dog. Pumpkin loves to play with toys and give kisses. She especially loves her treats!  She would love to go to reward based training classes so she can spend time with her new family while working on puppy biting, house training, crate training, playing, and how to be the best puppy she can! Pumpkin is expected to be a large dog, so please take that into consideration when adopting. If you're ready for a lifelong commitment, please fill out an application and someone from CCRC will be in touch.

We do not have a facility for you to visit.  WE PROCESS APPLICANTS AND SET APPOINTMENTS BASED ON THE ORDER APPLICATIONS ARE RECEIVED , so while you are welcome to email  ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com with specific questions, you will want to complete the  ONLINE APPLICATION ASAP which can be found at www.ccrcdogs.com, to secure your position in line for one of our dogs. You can also find  a description of our process on that same page. Puppies will not be available to be seen until their 10 day quarantine has passed. Our adoption fee is $220 for adults, $295 for puppies (under 6 months), and $150 for seniors (8 yrs and up) which covers the cost of the spay/neuter, age appropriate shots and tests, medications to bring the dog to full health, and a free visit with one of our approved vets after adoption. The majority of dogs at CCRC are obtained from animal control centers, so there is often very little known about their history or even current habits. You can always expect to do some training, regardless of whether you adopt a dog or a puppy, including crate training, house training, and basic manners. CCRC provides a variety of materials and resources to assist you with this, as well as telephone support.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fee includes the animal's spay or neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, and a complimentary vet visit at one of our great vets within 7 days of the adoption. You will also have 30 days to return the dog for a full refund or exchange for a different dog if it is not the right fit for your home. We accept cash, checks, or credit cards.

Most of our dogs are kept in volunteer foster homes. Our volunteers do their best to evaluate the dogs and their behavior to inform the future owners about what they have observed while the dog has been living in their home. Please be aware that even if a dog has been living in a foster home, it is not a guarantee that the dog will not present other behaviors that were unknown to the foster family.

If you are interested in a puppy (under 6 months old), please know that we have a policy to hold our puppies for at least 10 days prior to adoption, during which time we are clearing them from any life-threatening illnesses and getting them spayed/neutered and up to date with shots, etc. We DO NOT allow them to be seen during that hold period. One reason is that it is unfair to ask our fosters to make all of their puppies available at multiple times leading up to adoption. Also, since our puppies come from animal control facilities, it is not unusual for them to contract a serious (or even fatal) illness and we don’t want your family to meet and begin to bond with a puppy only to have it possibly pass away from illness or surgery. We will set their adoption appointments as soon as possible once they are past the hold period. Thank you for understanding.

Once an application has been submitted, it will immediately be forwarded to the person responsible for adopting the pet you applied for, usually the foster or our director, and they will contact you with the status of your application within 24 hours. If we feel your home is appropriate and the animals is still available, we will ask that you schedule an appointment to meet the dog and complete the paperwork for adoption. Often we will email a response, and sometimes our emails end up in your spam/junk folder so please keep an eye on that. If you have not heard from us after 24 hours you may email ccrcdogs@ccrcdogs.com to have someone follow up.

More about this rescue

Canine Companions Rescue Center is a non-profit 501(c)3 corporation founded in 2004 for the purpose of working with the community and area animal control agencies to promote the adoption of dogs without families. It is our goal to rescue dogs with good family potential. If our adopters and our dogs are both happier after the match, then we've done our job!

Our adoption fee is $295 for puppies and $220 for adults regardless of breed. As part of this fee we will bring your dog up to date medically, including a spay or neuter. The adoption fee also includes a post-adoption vet visit with one of CCRC vets. For more details on what is covered, please see our Health Statement on the Adoption Application page. These services would run over $300 at the vet, so adopting a rescue dog makes good financial sense!
