Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
This beautiful mare`s name is Estelle! Estelle came to us when her previous owners did not have time to ride her. Upon evaluation, our trainers found that she was significantly lame. After multiple vet exams, Estelle was diagnosed with navilcular degeneration of the right front navicular bone. After trying therapeutic shoes and seeing no improvement in her comfort levels, the vets decided that the pasture pet life would be the best option for Estelle. We were sad to see such a beautiful, young horse lose so much riding potential, but we think she would make a beautiful addition to your herd at home!
Estelle is very personable and people-oriented. She loves any and all attention she gets from staff, volunteers, and our training team. She is the first horse at the pasture gate to greet you and enjoys being doted upon. She stands for grooming well and has a `class clown` personality - you can sometimes find her picking things up with her mouth and carrying them around! We think she would do best with a savvy horse handler who knows how to set boundaries with a younger horse. An intermediate handler who would be able to correct the occasional playful, mouthy behavior would be a great adopter for Estelle!
While Estelle cannot be ridden often, she could potentially be adopted as a lead line horse. We wouldn`t recommend her as a daily rider, however. With some work and slight training, she could possibly pony a child behind the horse of a parent, but our trainer warns that she is still quite young and immature and is not a solid, dependable mount.
Estelle gets along with mares and geldings. She is easy to catch in a pasture and stands well for the vet and farrier. Think Estelle is the horse for you? Apply to adopt her on our website today!
