ABERCROMBIE NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Come meet Abercrombie and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (Nov. 3rd) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Alexandria (3351 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305)!

Name:  Abercrombie         Best Guess for Breed: Chihuahua mix

Best Guess for Age:  5 years as of October 2024       SEX:   Female

Approximate Weight: 13.8 lbs.

Gets Along With:  Abercrombie does well with other dogs. We haven't seen her with cats but she can be tested if you have them. We would be cautious placing Abercrombie in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare small breed dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to ensure their interactions with the dog are calm and gentle in nature.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.

Special Considerations: Abercrombie is sweet but shy. An adopter needs to have a strong commitment to socialization to help her gain confidence.

Currently Living At: the shelter, Abercrombie needs a forever home.

Abercrombie is Looking For: Messages from outer space. Seriously, those EARS. Bet they can pick up signals from the next galaxy. What an awesome looking pup!

This young girl landed in the shelter through no fault of her own - with her puppy Fitch. She did an amazing job of raising Fitch to be an awesome family pet and he's off to get his own family. Now Abercrombie is eager to lavish all that love and affection upon her own humans. And - long sniffy walks, romps in parks, all the adventures they can dream up - yes, please! She loves her walks and is ready to trot by your side (bonus: she's highly portable over giant obstacles!).

Most of all, though, she wants to be safe and loved and under her own roof. She's got so many adoring gazes and little tail wags - and loyal companionship - for her humans. What do you say? Are you her fresh start? Is she the one for your home and your heart?

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Go meet their pets

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
