FRANKIE NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name:    Frankie        Best Guess for Breed:    Lab and Husky mix

Best Guess for Age:    1 year and 9 months as of Oct. 2024       Gender:    Male

Approximate Weight:    52.5 lbs

Gets Along WithOther dogs! We haven’t seen Frankie with cats or kids, but he can be tested!

Currently Living At: Texas shelter - Frankie needs a foster or adopter to make his way to the DC area

Special Adoption Considerations: Frankie  is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.

We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!

Frankie is Looking For

Meet Frankie, a stunning Lab/Husky mix with mesmerizing blue eyes and a unique tricolor coat that turns heads wherever he goes! At 53 pounds, Frankie is the perfect medium-sized companion for an active individual or family. He’s got the smarts from his Lab side and the energy of a Husky, making him a fun, adventurous partner for hikes, runs, or playtime in the yard. Frankie is as sweet as he is striking, with a heart full of love to share with his forever family.

Frankie is not only handsome but also eager to please. While he loves his outdoor adventures, he’s equally happy curling up beside you for some quiet time after a day of fun. Frankie would do best in a home that can keep up with his active lifestyle and give him the mental and physical engagement he craves. Does he sound like the one for you?

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Go meet their pets

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
