My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please contact Bill Hahn (BillH@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Buddah wants to be your buddy!

BUDDAH NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name: Buddah            Best Guess for Breed:  Lab mix

Best Guess for Age:  10 months as of September 2024         SEX:  Male

Estimated Weight:   36 lbs as of 9/23/24; he might still have a bit more to grow.

Gets Along With:   Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids but he can be tested. We have tested Buddah with some of the cats at the shelter, and he did not seem particularly interested in chasing or pouncing on the cat. While this is a positive sign that Buddah could live with a cat, he has not done so to our knowledge. If you have cats in your home, we are happy to discuss with you how to best introduce a new pup to your pack!

Currently Living at:   DC area foster home.

Buddah is Looking For:   His forever home. This cutie is not long out of the puppy yips and hasn't seen nearly enough of the world yet. He's eager to have his own humans for romps in parks and all the adventures they can dream up, and make lots of people and pup pals along the way. Exploring all the toys to see which he likes best sounds great too, And he's excited to go to dog school so he can show how super smart he is!

Most of all, though, he wants to be a well-loved dog for all his days. In exchange he promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship. What do you say? Does that sound like a good deal to you?

What My Foster Says About Me: Buddah has been an amazing little guy! He fit right in with my two dogs (though is still learning to read cues), and he’s very well behaved. He is learning quickly and even sits for me when I’m taking his leash off and on! He is great in his crate and while he doesn’t love it, he goes in willingly and may bark a time or two, but quickly lays down. When he gets up in the morning he waits patiently for me to get him.  He LOVES to play and gets excited about pretty much anything I give him to play with, and can chill on the couch, at the farmers market and at coffee shops too. A born snuggler with a ton of love to give.

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
