PARKER NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Parker      Best Guess for Breed:  Retriever type mix, with some black lab in there

Approximate Weight: 54 lbs as of 10/12/24; he might have a bit more to grow

Currently Living at:  DC area foster home.

Parker is Looking For:  His forever home. This cutie may look like a big boy but he's really a big older puppy! He hasn't seen nearly enough of the world yet and is eager to have his own humans for romps in parks and all the adventures they can dream up, and make lots of people and pup pals along the way. Exploring all the toys to see which he likes best sounds great too, And he's excited to go to dog school so he can show how super smart he is!

Most of all, though, he wants to be a well-loved dog for all his days. In exchange he promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship. What do you say? Does that sound like a good deal to you?

What My Foster Says About Me:  Parker is a sweet boy.  He seems to be very astute in picking up cues from his surrounding environment and from people. He also seems to be very intelligent, in general - he picked up on how to properly play fetch extremely quickly. He is energetic and will like lots of walks and exercise.

Parker is a bouncy happy playful boy. He is young and still learning the rules, but he’s doing amazing in his foster home. He’s doing well in the crate and with his potty training. He has not shown resource aggression with his foster brother. He’s food motivated so training should be a breeze, and he’s ready to become your new best friend! he is gentle with his foster sister teenager, but hasn’t been tested with younger children. He’s quite a gentleman for a youngster.

He is SO loving. He was so happy to walk - run - trot - sniff - but when I knelt down, he ran to me, pushed his side into my belly and just leaned heavily on me, wagging his tail like crazy and loving all the butt scratches I was giving him.

Parker is a GEM. He is a young dog, probably just at or under a year old, and 54 pounds - but he was a lot easier to manage on-leash than my last two bigger fosters who were 36 and 35 lbs but could pull me off my feet. I think he is highly trainable and will be a wonderful family pet.

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
