My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please contact Caitlin Finn (caitlin.finn@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.handsome young boy ready to play!

SERGIO NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name:  Sergio       Best Guess for Breed:  Shepherd, terrier mix, probably other stuff thrown in as well

Best Guess for Age:   11 months as of October 2024     SEX: Male

Approximate Weight:   44 lbs as of 10/16/24 - He is still growing!

Gets Along With:   Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested if you have them.

Currently Living at:   DC area boarding partner

Sergio is Looking For: His forever home. This handsome young gentleman may look like a big boy but he's really a big older puppy! He hasn't seen nearly enough of the world yet and is eager to have his own humans for romps in parks and all the adventures they can dream up, and make lots of people and pup pals along the way. Exploring all the toys to see which he likes best sounds great too, and he's excited to go to dog school so he can show how super smart he is!

Most of all, though, he wants to be a well-loved dog for all his days. In exchange he promises adoring gazes and loyal companionship. What do you say? Can you see Sergio trotting by your side?

Special Adoption Considerations: When Sergio arrived from the shelter, he was pretty reserved in the hustle and bustle of city life.  He has been making great strides in foster care and boarding! We think Sergio would do best in a home that either has a resident dog or who can make sure Sergio has lots of opportunities to go on walks regularly with other dogs or visit dog parks and/or doggie daycare with other dogs to build confidence.

What My Foster Says About Me:   Sergio is very sweet and loves laying on the couch with his people. He is a bit nervous about elevators and cautious in approaching new things, but he would do well with a patient family that can give him lots of opportunities to build his confidence!

Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Go meet their pets

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
