YANNI NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name:    Yanni          Best Guess for Breed:    Heeler, cattle dog mix

Best Guess for Age:  6 months as of October 2024          SEX:    Male

Estimated Weight (puppies' weights change quickly!):  27.4 lbs as of 10/12/24

Gets Along With:        Most puppies are in the prime of their socialization window and will do well with other dogs, cats and kids so long as they receive patience and proper training. Yanni lives with a dog in his foster home and is doing great!

Currently Living at:   DC area foster home.

Special Adoption Considerations:   Puppies under 6 months of age need to have multiple potty breaks/exercise throughout the day. Potential adopters with a standard 8-hour workday must be willing to make arrangements to meet the needs of their puppy.

Yanni is Looking For:  Hiya! I'm Yanni and I'm here to tell you - I need a name change. I don't even have opposable thumbs so naming me after a famous keyboardist is totally making false promises. I'm just a sweet ol' puppers and this is what I'm looking for:

  • Play time! With my breed mix, yeah, I have energy to spare!
  • Snuggles!
  • More play time!
  • World exploration!
  • Making new pup pals!
  • Dog school, so I can show how super smart I am!

What My Foster Says About Me: Yanni is an incredibly sweet puppy. He loves people and will snuggle up any chance he gets. He has lived with a does a great job matching her energy and taking cues. He is a fast learner and very food motivated - he jumps around in circles with excitement when I get treats out for a training session. After a play session, he’s great at settling down and relaxing - he enjoys sitting on the couch watching TV with his 10 year old human brother! He’s making excellent progress with house training and crate training too.

Puppy Vetting Requirements:        Lucky Puppies have had their age appropriate vaccines, but may not yet be “fully” vaccinated. It is the adopter’s responsibility to ensure that the remaining puppy vaccines are given at the appropriate time. Please also keep in mind that, until your puppy is fully vaccinated, they are at greater risk for illness than an adult dog.

Your new puppy will need to work on their house training and will also need to go to obedience school so they can grow into a well-socialized dog!

TO ADOPT:       The adoption fee for this puppy is $485, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Go meet their pets

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
