Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Jackson - LA
Breed: Catahoula Leopard Hound mix
Age: 5 months +/-
Weight: currently 20lbs (around 40lbs fully grown)
Medical: UTD on all vaccines
Cat Friendly: Unknown
Dog Friendly: Yes
Kid Friendly: 12+
Crate Trained: Yes
House Trained: Yes
Location: Louisiana
Jackson is a sweet little puppy who grew up living under a house with no human contact. He ended up at an overcrowded shelter and was extremely fearful. He is still skittish with people but will come for food and will show affection on his own terms. Jackson loves other dogs and would need a fenced in yard that he can explore with a furry playmate. He doesn't need a lot of attention and is perfectly content with a few toys to play with and a comfy bed to sleep in. Jackson’s perfect human should have lots of patience to give him all the time he needs to trust people.
Jackson is going to be a work in progress due to the trauma he has suffered already in life. He is making such fabulous progress already and just needs the right home to help him continue!

Once your application has been received and reviewed, you will be contacted via email or phone by one of our volunteers. After your application is approved, the foster parent for the dog you have selected will contact you to answer any questions you may have and determine if that dog is a good match for your family.
If you have no particular dog in mind, we will be happy to keep your application on file and notify you if the right dog should come into rescue. Catahoula Rescue of New England is an all-volunteer group. Dogs in our program are fostered by volunteers. The foster homes care for our dogs as if they were their own. All dogs have received vaccinations appropriate to age and are spayed or neutered.
Jackson’s adoption donation is $450 which includes Rabies, DHLPP, Bordetella, fecal test, heartworm test, is on preventative, microchip and neuter depending on age at time of adoption. If the dog is too young for a spay/neuter, then they will be adopted with a spay/neuter contract and deposit. We do not have a physical shelter; all our dogs are fostered in individual foster homes across the New England and Canada.

Additional adoption info
We have a written application followed by a phone interview. If the applicant is approved past this point then we check 2 personal references as well as their vet reference. If they rent we speak with their landlord as well. If all is well at this point then we do a home check. The final step is a meet and greet where the adopter and the household, including dogs travel to meet the new adoptive dog. If all goes well they can adopt. There is an adoption contract and the adoption fee ranges between $200-400 depending on the fees that we put into the particular dog.

We support local "ma & pa" business before the big box chains since many of us come from some communities. We also attended fairs and "meet & greet" events.
