Layla is a beautiful 2-year-old short-haired tabby with a heart full of potential. Once a spirited outdoor cat, she would sprint away at the sight of her handlers, reveling in her freedom. However, everything changed when her caregivers found her lying down one day, seemingly unwell and in need of help. Concerned for her well-being, they brought Layla to Espanola Humane, where she could receive the care she so desperately needed.
Upon arrival, Layla faced some health challenges, including a severe upper respiratory infection and a stubborn blade of grass lodged in her nose. It took her a few days to recover and start feeling comfortable in her new environment. Although she is still a bit nervous and doesn’t actively seek out human interaction, Layla has shown no signs of aggression—no swats, bites, hisses, or growls. Her gentle spirit shines through as she learns to trust. Unfortunately, she is not a fan of other cats and would do best in a household by herself.
With time, patience, and love, Layla is expected to blossom into the affectionate companion she was meant to be. She’s ready to find a quiet, understanding home where she can feel safe and secure. If you’re looking for a sweet kitty who just needs a little encouragement to come out of her shell, Layla may be the perfect match for you!
