My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bonjour my friends! My name is Jean-Paul and here's some deets about me:

PHYSICAL INFO:

  • Breed: Terrier mix

  • Age: 6.5 months approx.

  • Gender: Male

  • Weight: 15lbs (7 kg)

  • Current Location: Guadalajara Mexico

RESCUE STORY - A renowned pastry chef in my previous lifetime, I am now cursed to live this one as a canine...However I shall make the best of it! Even though it has taken some getting used to...you see, I was found by my rescuer as a babe of about 3 months young in dire condition indeed. I wasn't used to begging for scraps on the streets you see (begging! me?!) and my state was so bad that I had to be hospitalized for one full week - gulp! Thankfully, luck was on my side and I pulled through so as to continue living this humbling existence. Now I am ready for my furever family, my silk sheets, my air conditioning and my sparkling water please! Okay truth be told, I've grown rather used to being a pooch and I quite like the simple things life has to offer...like bottle caps and plastic bottles and even hugs and kisses. Actually, I have grown to be quite an adaptable pup indeed - one who can be transported easily, left alone for extended periods of time and is quite happy sitting by your side watching the food network! So perhaps you and me can be a family, oui oui?

TEMPERAMENT - I am a calm, relaxed, loyal doggo who is happy cuddling with you, greeting you after a long day of work and slowly plotting my return to human form. I am the CHILL pooch at the dog park (I really don't see the need for a big fuss) however this doesn't mean I don't know how to have some fun! I do indeed like to play with doggos and hoomans alike, I just also really respect my beauty sleep (ahem). I have been coined as an *affectionate* pup and I see no lies there. Hoomans are alright - I would know!

ENERGY LEVEL - Low

GETS ALONG WITH:

  • Kids – Yes! I have been tested with older kids.

  • Dogs – I get along well with other pups and currently live with many other doggos at my foster's house as you can see here!

  • Cats – Unknown but can be tested upon request

PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise.

TRAINING:

  • Leash skills – My rescuers say I am okay with my leash skills as you can see in my video, however I may need some additional patience and training.

  • House trained – My rescuer says I am okay with this but I may need some additional training and patience.

  • Crate trained – My rescuer says I am okay with this but I may need some additional training and patience.

  • Car rides – My rescuer says I am good with this but I may need some additional training and patience.

Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.

HEALTH NOTES:

  • I am neutered and vaccinated.

  • NOTE: I'm currently undergoing treatment for Giardia, a little parasite that causes a tummy ache. Although it is hard to estimate how long this will take, once my treatment is complete I will be good to travel!

  • NOTE: dogs from Guadalajara are not microchipped.

  • NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.

ADOPTION FEE:

  • My adoption fee is $840.00 CAD including tax (5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver.
