My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Location: Mays Landing, NJ

Meet Dino Nugget: Your Future Adventure Buddy!

Are you looking for a loyal, adventurous, and loving companion? Look no further! Dino Nugget, our 1 1/2-year-old Australian Cattle Dog, is ready to find her forever home! Nugget came to us back in April as a fearful 11 month old. She is deaf and had little-to-no communication prior to joining our household. While with us, Nugget has blossomed into a cuddly, intelligent, sassy, redheaded cattle dog.

This spunky girl may be deaf, but she doesn't let that slow her down one bit — she’s all about having fun, staying active, and being your best friend once she trusts you. Nugget has strong opinions regarding strangers, so it may take 5-10 business days to be accepted as worthy of her trust, love and affection - but once you have been chosen, she will never leave your side. Like, ever. Want someone to sit with you in the bathroom? She’s your girl. Need to get a snack from the kitchen? Just be prepared to pay the ice tax!

About Dino Nugget:

  • Age: 1 1/2 years
  • Breed: Australian Cattle Dog
  • Special Needs: Deaf
  • Personality: Fun-loving, energetic, and loves to cuddle once she gets to know you
  • Favorite Activities: Car rides, hikes, playing fetch, and going on adventures
  • Dog-Friendly: She has 4 foster siblings that she loves to play with
  • Cat-Friendly: Indifferent to cats
  • Children: Unfortunately, not kid tested

Why You’ll Love Dino Nugget: Dino Nugget is full of love and energy. She’s crate and muzzle trained, house-broken, and understands several sign language/ hand commands. Her recall is fantastic with a variety of methods, and she picks up new commands quickly. She’s great with other dogs and indifferent to cats, making her a perfect addition to a multi-pet household. Though it takes her some time to trust new people, once she accepts you, she’ll be your most loyal companion, always ready for a car ride, a fun game of fetch, or a cuddle session after a long hike.

What She Needs: Dino Nugget needs an adopter who has experience with either Australian Cattle Dogs or deaf dogs (or both!). She needs someone who will continue to help her grow in her confidence with strangers and barriers, as well as someone with the patience to give her mind stimulating activities. Her ideal family will understand her need for structure and guidance, while also giving her the love and patience she needs to build trust. Nugget would do best in a home with teens or no children. If you’re up for the challenge, Dino Nugget will reward you with unwavering loyalty, hugs, and a lifetime of adventure!

More about this rescue

We are an all volunteer group that rescues Australian Cattle Dogs. Our dogs reside in foster homes until they are adopted
Every year, thousands of Australian Cattle Dogs find themselves homeless through no fault of their own. Although the reasons are diverse, the result is the same. Healthy, adoptable dogs face euthanasia in shelters.

The Australian Cattle Dog Rescue Association rescues ACDs in shelters from Maine to Georgia and gives these dogs a fresh start with a loving family. Our foster home volunteers welcome the dogs into their homes where they live as members of the family. During the time in foster care, our volunteers determine what kind of forever home will be the right one for each dog.
