Spike is a young, adorable, and sweet little guy. He loves to snuggle up and will be your constant couch companion. He enjoys the company of adults and older, respectful children. Young children frighten him, since he’s so little. He does great out in public, but is shy at first if new friends come up to pet him. He also travels well in the car and stays in his seat!
Spike is playful with other dogs once he gets to know them. He warms up quickly, especially for friendly, larger dogs, and his play style is very rambunctious. He may need extra time getting to know smaller dogs, and he is tolerant of respectful cats.
Spike has a head tremor that gets more pronounced when he is excited or just waking up. It doesn’t impact his love for life, and we find it very endearing. He also has luxating patellas, but you wouldn’t know it, except for some occasional wobbliness when going potty or some hopping when he is running around. They don’t bother him at all, and he has no restrictions on activities. He loves walks and gets the zoomies when he’s feeling playful.
Potty training is going really well, but he wears a belly band to prevent accidents in the house. Being on a regular schedule with another dog works great for him, as he follows their lead on going potty outside. If he goes out alone, he will need to be walked around to go potty, since he is still learning, but he’s well on his way to being fully housebroken.
Spike loves to eat and is very food motivated. He likes to eat undisturbed by other pets, or he may growl and bark if he is bothered at mealtime. He is eager to learn when motivated by a treat, and he already knows how to sit. He also gets protective of his loved ones and may growl or bark to let people coming into the house or room know that he’s aware of them. He redirects quickly when he knows there’s nothing to worry about.
If you’re ready for a very special and loving little companion, Spike is ready to meet you!
