Meet 2 year old Dakota II! She is a small husky mix weighing 35 pounds. A special thing about Dakota is she spreads her love to the whole family and not just one person. When you come home, Dakota greets you with the most gentle hug and rest her head on your shoulder. She is so loving.
Dakota enjoys being outside and gets excited about long walks. On a recent trip to Galveston, we discovered she is a water dog that plays in the waves. Dakota had fun with every dog on the beach and had a blast playing in the water with a family where the kids were ages 9 to 11 years old. At the outdoor restaurant we took her to, she was the perfect guest and so well behaved.
Dakota is crate trained. We feed her all her meals in the crate as she had a little food aggression when we first found her. (We have two small old, cranky dogs that we need to keep apart from her.) It has worked great for us and now she loves her crate. At night she gets a treat right before she goes to bed. Dakota also traveled well in the car for five hours in her crate. We did make stops along the way to stretch her legs! When you feed Dakota by hand, sheâÂÂs very gentle.
Dakota is smart and is quickly learning âÂÂsit/waitâÂÂ, come, and is walking well on her leash without pulling. Dakota can get the zoomies, and if sheâÂÂs inside we quickly put her outside. When she tries to play nibble, we put her in her crate. If she has play dates and is worn out, then we have less of both.
An ideal home for Dakota would be with an active family with the yard. She is great with other dogs and would love having a sibling. Dakota can help you get your steps because she can do the long walks. Dakota is such a happy, loving dog.
