Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Little Bit! This adorable 5-month-old German Shepherd mix is full of life and energy, weighing in at 26 pounds with plenty of growing left to do. She made her way from Tennessee to Safe Haven in search of her perfect forever home.
Little Bit would thrive in an active household, where she can burn off her puppy energy and share her playful spirit. While she hasn’t had much experience with kids yet, she’s confident they’d be great playmates. She’s fantastic with her doggy foster siblings and has shown curiosity towards the barn cat she occasionally encounters.
Fun, silly, and friendly, Little Bit loves to chew on her toys and enjoys a well-deserved nap in her crate after a day of play. Though she might feel a bit anxious at first, she quickly settles down and is getting the hang of being alone. Potty training is going exceptionally well—no accidents so far! And she’s a superstar in the car, loving every moment as a "passenger princess."
Little Bit is working hard on her "sit" command and leash training and is proving to be a quick learner, eager to please. She’s currently in a home without a fenced yard, so she’s adaptable to a home with or without one. Little Bit’s sweet personality and joyful energy make her the perfect companion for any family. More about this rescue
We are a small 501 C3 nonprofit rescue located in Elburn, Illinois. In 2014, Safe Haven Dog Rescue became its own non-profit. We are licensed by the Illinois Agriculture Department.
The majority of our dogs and puppies are pulled from Kill Pounds and Shelters in Tennessee, Arkansas, and Illinois. We also accept local medical cases as often as our finances will allow.
Please take a few moments to read the stories about the dogs and puppies we have available for adoption. We disclose everything we know about the dogs, sometimes we know a lot often we know only that they were strays, thrown away on the side of the road, in the woods, or found in abandoned houses.
While we don’t always know their past we are certain that their future is much brighter.
We hope that you and your family are part of the future…..
