Pretty little Shia is available for adoption! Shia is a local girl who came to us when her owner had to move and couldn’t take her along. She is a Shih Tzu mix, about 8 years old, and weighs around 15 pounds. Shia has an adorable underbite, so be prepared to say "Toothers!" to her often!
Shia is doing well in her foster home. She has made friends with the little Chihuahuas, and since she has always been around other dogs, this was no surprise. While she'd be happy to have another small friend in her new home, it’s not a requirement. Shia has lived in an apartment her whole life and is used to being walked to go potty, which she does nicely. Her foster home has a fully fenced yard that she enjoys, too.
Shia hasn’t quite mastered navigating stairs; she can go up just fine, but going down is challenging for her, and she tends to jump down, which can be a little scary. If you have stairs in your home, you may need to carry her down until she learns to navigate them better.
Shia is crate trained, but when she wants out, she will bark—a loud bark at that! She’ll also let you know if she thinks you’re slow in getting her breakfast or dinner; she loves her food and treats, especially cheese, which seems to be her favorite.
While Shia hasn’t been around kids in her foster home, we believe she would be fine with them. She is not aggressive at all, but she is past the days of playing with kids and would prefer to be a little lap dog queen, which we think is just fine. Shia does well in the car and enjoys going for rides.
Shia has been professionally groomed and will require regular grooming throughout her life. She does not appear to shed either.
Shia is now spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped flea/worm treated and tested neg. for heartworm. She also had a dental to clean those toothers up and she is looking and feeling great! Her adoption fee is $450
