My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gemma is a friendly and affectionate Husky with a medium energy level. Around other dogs, she can be a bit shy at first, giving them space while she gets comfortable. But once she warms up, her playful side comes out, and she starts to interact with the group. On leash, Gemma tends to focus on her surroundings and often ignores other dogs. She circles a bit but pulls only minimally, making her easy to walk.

Gemma loves being around people and is quick to approach with curiosity. She enjoys leaning in for affection and is always ready for a cuddle. With her balanced energy and sweet nature, Gemma is sure to bring joy and companionship to any home!

More about this shelter

We serve the pets and people in Northern Illinois and Southeastern Wisconsin. Our mission is clear: To take responsibility for each and every orphaned, abandoned, abused or neglected dog and cat which reaches our doors; to take them in and shelter them; to provide the best medical and physical care possible for them; to nurture them back to health if need be; and finally to place them into warm, loving, adoptive homes where they can enjoy the lives they deserve.
