My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please contact Diane Pedulla (dianep@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.A Diamond in the Ruff!

DIAMOND NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!!

Name:   Diamond    Best Guess for Breed:   Terrier - Chihuahua

Best Guess for Age:    2 years as of 10/14/2024        Gender:   female

Approximate Weight:    10 lbs.

Gets Along With: other dogs. We haven't seen Diamond with cats but we can test. We would be cautious placing her in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare small breed dogs with their level of energy or noise.  Children would need to be supervised closely to ensure their interactions with the dog are calm and gentle in nature.  We would be happy to discuss this more in depth with any applicant.

Currently Living At: the shelter, Diamond needs a foster or forever home in the DC area!

Diamond is Looking For: Picture a pint-sized dynamo that is both tenacious and entertaining. One who will want to go for walks to explore and sniff as well as spending time snuggling in your lap. We expect Diamond will be an energetic little fireball. At two years old she's past the puppy stage and likely starting to mellow a bit. She will need daily walks to keep her healthy as well as the opportunity to play with other dogs at a dog park, doggie daycare, or an enclosed yard.

Training will help Diamond show you what a good girl she can be. Toys that stimulate her natural instincts, such as squeaky toys and puzzle feeders, will be a big hit. She'll also enjoy meeting people and their dogs in her new neighborhood.

Don't wait long to apply for this adorable little furball. With her perky ears, expressive dark eyes, and soft black fur, Diamond is going to have many admirers. You could be the lucky one who gets to bring her home!

What My Foster Says About Me: We will update as soon as Diamond arrives and spends some time with a foster.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption process begins when you submit an adoption application either online or at an adoption event. The individual responsible for the dog you are interested in adopting - a position we call the “adoption coordinator” - will then set up a time to discuss your application over the telephone. The adoption coordinator will check your vet reference to make sure all current and past pets were kept up-to-date with their shots and medical care. The adoption coordinator will also set up a home visit with one of our trained volunteers. That individual will come to your home to ensure that it is a safe environment, to confirm that everyone in the home is on board with adopting a dog, and to discuss any other questions you may have about dog adoption!

Go meet their pets

Our adoption events are held each weekend. A schedule of times and locations can be found at www.luckydoganimalrescue.org.
