My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, I'm Clarise! I’m a 1 year old, 30 lb., bully mix gal! I was a stray pup walking around searching for some people to love me when a nice truck driver picked me up. When the truck driver called Animal Control to give me a place to stay until I found my forever home, I jumped into the Animal Control officer’s arms and gave her kisses! The shelter tried to get ahold of my people but no one came forward so now I’m officially ready to find my new home!

Before I came to AHOTO, the shelter took me to an Adoption Event and although they knew I was an exceptionally friendly lady, I did so well with the other dogs at the event as well as with the children. I was on my best behavior! I really do not know the word “stranger” when it comes to dogs, adults, and children. I really just love EVERYONE! Although the people at the shelter were absolutely wonderful, the kennel was stressful and overcrowded so the kennel staff contacted AHOTO to see if they could take me in. AHOTO agreed and welcomed me with open arms!

Now I’m with my amazing foster family and my foster fur siblings. See the video of me playing with my foster sister, Maya!

Now I just can’t wait to find my forever family. Contact AHOTO today to meet me!

Clarise's foster mom has a lot to say about Miss Clarise:

*She is extremely puppy and kneads with her teeth
*She is house trained. She barks to go out but it takes a few min before she remembers she had to pee! Haha!
*She is a super snuggler and would prefer to be the little spoon at bed time.
*She is learning her puppy social Q’s from Pig and Maya [foster siblings] and the right amount of mouth play.
*Because kneading with her teeth is self soothing, when she gets nervous or stressed, she kneads harder on you and if you pull away, she chases. For this reason, if she is in a home with kids, the parents will need to understand that she is very mouthy and the kids may be gnawed on....Clarise loves kids! She's just very mouthy right now so parents will need to be mindful of that.
*She is learning how to transfer her nervous chewing to a toy which is great.
*She is good on leash, and gets excited and carries her leash around when she knows it’s time.
*She does a great job of looking for cues from her person.
*She is great with other dogs that are young and/or like to play. Her energy is too high for an elderly sibling.
*Bottom line - she is an AMAZING puppy!
