My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Here we have the best of allspices...Spice the OG.
Our Spice girl is petite and sweet with a little blend of sarsaparilla.
Background: She arrived as a stray rescued from the tree she and her sister were tied to.
They were both very timid for a few days. Spice is the security department for the team. Sugar is quite laid back and therefore, Sporty Spice needs to interview and make sure all friends have security clearance to spend time with them.
She has been hanging out in the same cubbie with her sister.
She walks by inside cats ok.
Outside critters of all shapes need to be barked at and told to stay away from sissy. It's the job. Once corrected by taller walkers, she is satisfied and shuts off the alarm.
Although Spice is a tiny spice in size, she has a flavorful personality. She will need walks, exercise and training to be her best self and help her understand she does not need to be the boss. She's ready for a vaca! She has such charm once you get to know her and bonus...she's adorable! If a nice routine is established and basic obedience is incorporated ...Spice will a delightful companion.

⭐️volunteer favorite.
1 year old, 22 pounds of sweet fun!
Spice opens up and builds trust slowly. But she has lots of love to give once she knows you are her friend.
Come and meet this Super Spice Girl -she is ready to begin her new life and hopefully a new career!

If someone is adopting a dog and has another dog at home, we also require a "meet and greet" for the dogs as well. More about this shelter

The Humane Society of Wicomico County was started in 1968 by a group of people who wanted to help improve the lives of animals. We have come a long way in our 40+ years! We have a staff dedicated to making sure the animals that come to our doors are loved and protected as they wait for their forever home. Not only are our animals vaccinated, wormed and given flea preventative, we can treat animals that come to us with mange, ringworm, heartworm and pay for animals to be seen by an outside vet should there be a need. We have an on-site spay/neuter clinic that not only is used for our animals but we also offer low cost spay/neuter for animals of the public. We provide emergency boarding for victims of domestic abuse, fire, and medical emergencies. We also have the capability to set up an off-site emergency shelter for people evacuated from their homes. In addition, we have an education program to help teach kids about being a responsible pet guardian. We work with a wide range of rescue groups and our animals have been transported from our mid-Atlantic area throughout the North Eastern United States. Our shelter is an open admission shelter and we will take in approximately 3500 animals this year. We do what we do because of our love for animals and our desire to make a difference in their lives every single day.
