My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

How this pet arrived:
Lady was brought in by her previous owner on September 29, 2024.

Why this pet is the one for you:
Meet Lacy! This aloof-at-first gal will stick to you like Velcro when she's decided you're her person. Lacy is not into the whole "busy social scene" thing; she prefers a calm, quiet home where she can feel safe. She's a sensitive soul who's a bit nervous around new people, places, and other dogs, so think of her as your personal hiking companion, not your coffee shop or dog park partner. Lacy is crate trained and her crate is her safe haven. Trust is her love language, and she'll need time (and lots of treats) to build that bond. With the right mix of mental and physical activities (think puzzle toys and gentle strolls), Lacy will thrive. Her dream home? No kiddos or off-leash adventures, please! Lacy is a solo-act superstar but might be open to a doggie friend-just make sure you schedule a meet-and-greet prior to adoption. So, if you're ready for a loyal companion, grab your entire household as well as a leash and collar and come learn more about Lacy today!

More about this shelter

San Diego Humane Society, an open-admission shelter, is creating a more humane world by inspiring compassion and advancing the welfare of animals and people. Our lifesaving safety net has helped San Diego become the largest city in the U.S. to keep healthy and treatable shelter animals from being euthanized. We are a private, independent, nonprofit organization that is not affiliated with any other humane society or society for the prevention of cruelty to animals.

With campuses in El Cajon, Escondido, Oceanside, Ramona and San Diego, we provide animal services for 14 cities within San Diego County. We not only care for 50,000 animals in our communities but also share the expertise we have gained through our innovative programs with shelters nationwide so they can save more lives in their communities.

While our influence is expanding nationally, our top priority is meeting the needs of San Diego. We provide exceptional care for all animals through world-class veterinary medicine, shelter and most of all: love.
