I'm an independent kitty who likes to do my own thing.

Roxy tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.

A volunteer writes: Roxy is so cool! My favorite thing about her is the completely unintentional side eye she gives to everyone. I opened her condo door and she gave me a look that said she'd rather be doing anything else than hanging out with me. Not a problem, just wanted to share some treats and then I'd be on my way. Before I could put the treats down, Roxy leaned her head into my hand with all the joy and excitement of a puppy and I was totally surprised and super excited. Her side eye is just how she looks and I love her for it. Snuggled on her Kuranda bed, Roxy wanted pets and cuddles and was delighted to lean into my hand for as long as I stood there. She even sat up a bit so that she could do a kind of walk in place move for more. Roxy is really trying so hard and hoping with all her heart to find a family who will love and welcome her.

Animal Care Centers of NYC encourages everyone to come to one of our three full service Care Centers when looking to adopt a pet. Beautiful dogs, cats, guinea pigs and rabbits are anxiously waiting a home to call their own.

All ACC adoptions include vaccinations, a microchip, spay/neuter, one month of free pet health insurance, and a free office visit at a participating veterinarian.
