If you’re an active family looking for puppy love Penny is waiting for you! Penny is a three month old 27 pound Australian Kelpie/shepherd mix that came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 10/19 along with her sibling. Her sibling looks very similar but weighs less. After Penny explored the yard, she would come close to me and then scamper away. It was obvious that she is timid and skittish. Eventually I gained her trust, and she did come to me. She even put her paws on my lap and gave me kisses. I I knew she wanted to make friends. She will need a slow introduction, but it will pay off. She might even give you some kisses. She is playful and frolicked around the yard. She walks OK on a leash. She did her business in the yard. She appeared to be intimidated by other dogs. She didn’t want to meet any of them. She’s very sweet, bouncy, happy, playful and spunky. She would be perfect for a family with young children so she could grow up with them. With winter coming, she would love to cuddle up on the couch or at your feet during family time. In other words, she wants to be mostly an inside dog. In the last picture you can see that she has relatively short legs and a long body for her size.
