Jose Antonio was rescued from the side of the highway. He was very timid and unsure at first, but he has gained so much confidence since realizing he is in a safe place now. Jose Antonio has been checked out by a vet, treated for parasites, vaccinated, and neutered. He is currently being treated with medication for some kidney issues. He is a very sweet boy who just needs a loving family!

Defensa Animal de Puerto Rico is a Puerto Rico-based nonprofit working to help the dogs, cats and horses on the island by:

- Lowering the number of dogs, cats and horses that are injured, un-owned or neglected by providing adoption marketing and financial assistance for vet services
- Increasing the rate of sterilization of all cats and dogs and castration of stallions/horses
- Taking in, rehabilitating and rehoming unwanted, injured or abandoned horses

For dogs, cats, pigs, birds, etc., Defensa relies on foster homes. For horse rescue, Defensa utilizes donated land.
