My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adventure buddy by day, snuggle pro by night!

Hey there! I’m Arwen–  your soon-to-be adventure buddy! I’m a 3-year-old, 40-pound Lab mix from Ensenada, Mexico. I’m a happy-go-lucky guy who is  all about living life to the fullest! I can get pretty excited when it’s time for walks or playtime, but once I’ve had my fun, I’m happy to chill and relax most of the day.

I’m super friendly with other dogs and love meeting new people. At adoption events, I’m the life of the pawty, always ready for pets and cuddles. If you need a pal to explore with, I’m your guy—whether it’s running, hiking, or just strolling around the neighborhood, count me in!

I’m learning how to be the best version of myself too! Sometimes, I get so excited that I might nibble on your clothes, but I’m easily redirected and always eager to please. When it comes to my favorite treats or bones, I can be a little protective —so older kids who can help respect my space would be the best fit for me.

I’m house-trained, leash-trained, and great with my crate, though I’m perfectly fine roaming free at home. I have gotten worried about being left behind and attempted to run through the door (whoops) but I respond well to calm energy and redirection. I’d love to have a yard or regular walks to keep me happy and healthy. A dog sibling would be fun, but I’m cool being your one and only love!

So, if you’re looking for a fun, affectionate, and loyal companion, look no further! I’d love a family that’s as active as I am– I’m ready for all of life’s adventures! I’d make a great first-time dog since I’m such a ray of sunshine.  If you’re somehow still not convinced, follow me on Instagram @fostering_4leggedpups to see more of my silly side!

My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
