My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

A gentle giant!

Hello, there! My name is Wisdom, and I’ve come all the way from Tijuana to find my furever home!

I’m a 3.5-year-old Shepherd mix and weigh 80 pounds.  I’ve already been neutered and am in great health.

I’m a calm and even-tempered boy, who gets along with everyone I meet. I’m friendly and playful with doggies and kitties and love being around adults and kids of all ages.  Nothing phases me, and I can remain calm in the noisiest and most chaotic of environments. My favorite activities include loving on my humans, getting pets and tummy rubs, giving kisses, enjoying food and treats, playing with doggie friends, and going on as many walks and hikes as you can muster!

As far as my training goes, I am fully potty-trained and leash-trained. I do not pull while out on walks and am not reactive to other dogs, even when they are barking at me.  I love getting attention from my humans but have only shown mild symptoms of separation anxiety when left behind.

Even though I’m adaptable and could thrive in many types of households, my ideal situation would be one that could give me the exercise and attention that I need to thrive! I’d love to go on long walks at least twice a day and be taken to the dog park on a regular basis (I’ve really enjoyed going to Fiesta Island where I can run free and play with other pups). I would do great with doggie or kitty siblings, as well as kiddos of any age, since I’m so patient and gentle. Other than that, I’d prefer to have company throughout the day so that I won’t be left alone for long periods of time.

Don’t I sound like a smart choice? My adoption fee is $300 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.  If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

We prioritize local San Diego applicants. We do not provide transport of dogs to other states, and don't allow the dogs to fly in the cargo of the plane.
Our adoption process from start to finish, involves 3 standard forms, and 2 situational.
All potential applicants must be capable of providing their adopted pet with routine and emergency veterinary care (yearly health checks, keeping vaccinations current, heartworm/flea preventatives, and immediate care in the event the animal is sick or injured). They are required to license their pet, and keep an identification tag on their pet at all times.
All applicants must agree to a home check, and provide us with a veterinary reference, or personal references if you're a first-time pet owner. Our home checks are not to invade the privacy of the applicants, we do this to ensure the pet is going into a safe home. We do not discriminate against non-homeowners, or those living in apartments, condos, or otherwise.
Our adoption fees vary from $150-1000.
Applicants must agree in writing that if for any reason they are unable to keep or care for their pet, the pet will be surrendered back to our rescue and not re-homed, turned over to a shelter, pound, rescue, new owner, sold, etc.

More about this rescue

Overview
The Animal Pad is a nonprofit, all-breed dog rescue devoted to saving the lives of dogs facing euthanasia at high kill animal shelters and off the streets of Mexico. We rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home locally.

We are dedicated to animal advocacy, and educating dog owners on the importance of spaying and neutering their pets. We are a foster based rescue, and rely heavily on the kindness and generosity of the amazing people who make donations toward the rescue and care of the dogs we save.

We are always looking for adopters, fosters, donations, volunteers, etc.. Please let us know if you would like to get involved by contacting us at one of the email addresses found below.
