My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Tucker and Bruno are an inseparable pair of pups looking for their forever home where they can continue their sweet bond. Bruno, a calm and loving 7-year-old Dachshund, enjoys nothing more than being pampered with pets, baths, and brushings. His favorite activity is playing with his beloved pizza squeaker toy, but he also loves snuggling up with his humans. Bruno is housetrained and does well free-roaming in the house. He is loyal and affectionate but tends to choose his people carefully, so his ideal home is one filled with love and safety, just as his previous owner wishes for him. His gentle nature and devotion will make him a wonderful companion.

Tucker, a lively 3-year-old Chihuahua, is super bonded to Bruno and won't leave his side. Described as playful and funny, Tucker is full of energy and loves squeaker toys, bathtime, and especially cuddling up with his favorite buddy, Bruno. He is a bit nervous when meeting new people, but with gentle cheek rubs and treats, he warms up quickly. Tucker is crate-trained and does well with structure but needs a cat-free home, as he can't resist chasing. Having lived with a 6-year-old child, Tucker and Bruno are accustomed to a family environment and are ready to bring double the love and joy to their next home, where they must be adopted together to keep their close bond intact.

More about this shelter

The Maryland SPCA connects wonderful pets to loving owners. We are not affiliated with any national animal organization, and we do not receive any government or United Way funding. Our mission is to prevent cruelty and neglect of animals through fostering the humane relationship between animals and people. We operate primarily in the Greater Baltimore Metropolitan area.

To make sure that our dogs and cats do not contribute to the pet overpopulation problem, every one is spayed or neutered before going into a new home. The cost is included in the adoption fee, as are the costs of shots and other necessary care. In addition, a free Positive Pooch class is available to our dog adopters.

There is no set time limit for how long an animal can remain in our adoption program. As long as an animal maintains general good health and a sound temperament, we keep him or her until adopted. We pride ourselves on providing premium care to the animals in a clean, pleasant environment. Our adoption staff works diligently to pair up adopters with the best animal match for their homes and lifestyles.

We transport animals from other shelters to our adoption center to help more animals get adopted. We also help pet owners find new homes for their pets so their animals don’t need to enter shelter care.
