My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Evie is a sweet, gentle, quiet, and clever female border collie around 3 to 4 years old. She loves people, but is never overbearing about it. Showing affection for Evie looks like giving soft little kisses or gently resting her head on your feet. Despite her breed, her energy levels are very manageable. As long as she gets out for a good game of fetch or some park time, she is perfectly content to nap for the rest of the day. She absolutely loves to play with other dogs, especially when they let her follow them around so she can 'herd' them but she's never pushy about it! In fact, she is very submissive and seems to get along well with pretty much any dog, even the picky ones. Her foster family has yet to even hear her bark!

She was found as a stray in central Utah with one blind eye, and we're not sure how she ended up that way. Despite her history as a stray, she is completely potty trained and blew her foster family away by not having a single accident in the house. She also has perfect manners walking on leash! Evie is quickly adjusting to city life but she still needs some help sometimes with confidence in new situations. She still gets a little nervous getting into cars, but once she is inside she does great and does not make a peep. She is friendly to strangers, but will sometimes need some coaxing to come out and say hi, especially with men. She prefers the safety of her crate or underneath the table until she feels comfortable enough to greet someone new. As long as the newcomer is patient and quiet, she will be their friend in no time- especially if they brush her hair, which she LOVES.

Evie is the perfect dog for someone who wants the intelligence, loyalty, and trainability of a border collie without the intense energy commitment. She is a little sensitive to loud noises, and would do best in a quiet home without young kids to stress her out. She would also prefer a home with a yard, as she loves to spend her afternoons just sitting outside.

Dogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis. We strive to find the perfect home for each animal. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $200. Additional adoption info

Since we make a lifetime commitment to any animal that comes into our program, we only adopt out animals to people in our area..

If you are interested in adopting a CAWS cat or dog, please fill out the online application at http://www.caws.org/application/, email adopt@caws.org or call 328-4731. For the most timely response applying online is recommended.

We respond as quickly as possible but as we are a volunteer based organization and do not have full time staff, we respond as quickly as possible.

Go meet their pets

CAWS does not have a conventional shelter facility - all CAWS animals waiting for adoption are in foster homes. The number of animals we can help find new homes for is closely linked to how many CAWS foster homes are available. For additional information regarding how you, too, can become a foster, please see our fostering page located on our web site!

CAWS volunteers bring cats and dogs to the PetSmart near 2100 South and 300 West in South Salt Lake on the third and fourth weekends of each month

We are also at the Sugarhouse PETCO (1165 Wilmington Ave) the first Saturday of each month.
