Roman is a timid, laid back, affectionate 9 month old Mastiff/Black Mouth Cur mix who loves cuddling on the couch, making new friends (doggy and human), and being a homebody! Though he is more on the shy side when meeting new people, Roman warms up quickly and will want to stay right by your side once he knows you're a friend! He weighs about 50lbs right now but will likely grow to be around 70lbs as an adult.

Roman was found as a stray and brought to our local shelter where he quickly made it on the euthanasia list due to lack of space. He is the sweetest, most affectionate boy and did so well in his kennel at the shelter, despite the constant barking and loud noises of the environment he was in! Roman was so innocently unaware of the fate that was about to be handed to him and we couldn't bear to let that happen to this happy, gentle boy!

Roman has such a great demeanor and listens very well to commands and corrections. It's easy to tell that this boy lives to please his people, and he does an amazing job at it! Roman is very smart and easily trainable, especially being so young still. He naturally sits and waits if you're busy doing something and he wants to be pet, and he is always very patient. Roman loves to be right by your side any chance he gets but isn't constantly demanding your attention like a lot of "velcro dogs" do! He is such a polite boy and has incredible manners when it comes to most everything, including playing with other dogs! Roman is shy at first when meeting new dogs but he quickly makes friends with them and initiates play. He is very respectful of other dogs' boundaries and takes corrections well. You could say that he's a natural pro at conflict resolution!

Roman is potty and crate trained, is eager to please, and does great with other dogs. He hasn't met any children yet but with his gentle giant type personality, we think he would do well with them. Roman would love to go to a home with at least one other doggy sibling to play with, but he would also do fine as the only dog in the household.

Roman is located in Houston TX but can be transported to most US states for adoption.
